Rink Status

We will update closures, conditions and other rink/warming house notices here when needed. We anticipate rinks opening in mid-December but that is a preliminary estimation based on past seasonal weather.

Regular Skating Season

Weather permitting, Burnsville's outdoor ice rinks and warming houses are open from mid-December through mid-February.

Burnsville offers outdoor skating rinks with lighting at 11 different locations divided into three different categories of operation.

A Sites offer warming houses staffed daily; B Sites offer warming houses staffed on weekends only; and C Sites are not staffed but offer lighting via push button timers.

Theseice rink timer sites are located at Highland Forest, South River Hills and Knob Hill parks.

Simply push the timer button to activate the lights at the above designated parks.

Rink Snow Removal

During a snow fall, rinks are cleared as quickly as possible. Please be patient as snow removal crews have to clear roads, sidewalks and trails as well as rinks. On a weekend with a snow event the staffed outdoor skating rinks will close after one inch of snow has accumulated.

Rink Rules

  • No hockey or broomball games are allowed unless specified
  • Wednesday nights are designated as "Open Hockey" nights and rinks may not be reserved for hockey practices
