This Project Includes

Reclamation work consisting of replacing all pavement, repairing and/or upgrading storm sewers and sanitary sewers, and spot replacement of curbs.  These areas include:

  • Colonial Park Area
  • Southcross Heights 
  • West Park
  • Burnell Park

Rehabilitation work consisting of replacing the top 2" of pavement and spot replacement of curbs. These areas include: 

  • Ridges Area
  • Portland Avenue
  • Heart of the City
  • Buck Hill Road

Public Hearing on Proposed 2022 Street Improvements:

  • Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 5:30 pm
  • Burnsville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Parkway

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of the participants at the public hearing may be attending electronically. Those wishing to participate in the public hearing may have the option of appearing at the public hearing in person or electronically.  Members of the public interested in monitoring or participating in the public hearing electronically should see information on the City’s webpage at www.burnsvillemn.gov or contact the City at (952) 895-4400.

The Public Hearing is a meeting where the City Council receives information and public testimony regarding the proposed improvements. You are invited to address the City Council if you have concerns with any portion of the improvements. 

If at the Public Hearing the City Council determines the improvements should proceed, construction will take place during the summer/fall of 2022.

2022 Street Improvement Projects Open Houses Update

Open houses are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

  • September 22, 2021 from 4-6 pm: Open House at James Avenue Cul-de-sac
  • September 23, 2021 from 4-6 pm: Open House at Hollows Park
  • September 29, 2021 from 3:30-4:30 pm: Open House at City Hall 
  • September 30, 2021 from 4-6 pm: Open House at Nicollet Commons Park
  • January 5, 2022 from 3-4 pm: Ridges Area virtual Open House via Zoom
  • January 5, 2022 from 3-4 pm: Ridges Area virtual Open House via Zoom

See the Open Houses Map for detailed location information.  The same information will be available at all open houses.  Residents and business owners may attend any open house to ask questions and provide comments to staff about the projects.

  • February 16, 2021: Council ordered preliminary report for the 2022 Street Improvement Projects
  • April-October 2021: Staff studying project areas and drafting preliminary report
  • September 22, 2021 from 4-6 pm: Open House at James Avenue Cul-de-sac
  • September 23, 2021 from 4-6 pm: Open House at Hollows Park
  • September 29, 2021 from 3:30-4:30 pm: Open House at City Hall 
  • September 30, 2021 from 4-6 pm: Open House at Nicollet Commons Park
  • December 7, 2021: Council to receive preliminary report and call for public improvement hearing 
  • January 18, 2022: Council to hold public improvement hearing
  • February 2022: Receive bids
  • April 19, 2022: Council to hold assessment hearing and award contracts
  • April-October 2022: Construction occurs
  • November 15, 2022: Assessment pre-payment deadline
  • Spring 2023: Final completion
  • Dates are tentative and subject to change
