The Role of a Police Officer
Burnsville Police Officers are responsible for the delivery of a full range of police services to achieve the effective protection of lives and property in our community. Services include crime prevention, criminal apprehension, enforcing laws and ordinances, providing emergency life-saving response, and maintaining effective community relations.
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree
- Valid Minnesota Peace Officer License or be eligible to be licensed in the State of Minnesota
- Non-smoker

- Physical, psychological, drug testing
The Role of a Community Service Officer
The Community Service Officer position is designed for individuals academically pursuing a future career in law enforcement and provides hands-on training and experience. CSOs are often candidates for future Police Officer openings within the City. CSOs are assigned to perform a variety of duties in the Operations and Services Divisions of our agency. Duties are assigned when able to fulfil academic requirements.
