2022 Programs

Community Events and Festivals: Major community events such as the International Festival of Burnsville, the Burnsville Fire Muster and Burnsville Winter Lighting as well as smaller events including concerts, movies, environmental events and other entertainment occur throughout the year.

Curling: The Burnsville Ice Center offers classes, instructional leagues and open play times for this popular sport.

Landscaping for Clean Water Workshops: The Dakota County Soil and Watershed Conversation District holds free workshops each spring for Dakota County residents to learn about raingardens, native gardens and other beautiful, water-saving practices. Burnsville's workshops are coordinated by the Natural Resources Department.

Group Running in I Love Burnsville Adventure RunI Love Burnsville Adventure Run: This race takes place during I Love Burnsville Week. The race begins and ends in Nicollet Commons Park and awards will be presented in multiple categories. Open to all ages.

Ice Skating: Public skating and Learn to Skate lessons are available for all ages at the Burnsville Ice Center.

Native Plant MarketHelp birds, butterflies and bees by growing native plants! Native wildflowers, ferns and grasses will be on sale from multiple vendors. The sale is coordinated by the Natural Resources Department. Held in May.

Pickleball: Pickleball is a great sport for people of all ages. It is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Courts lined for pickleball can be found at Colonial Park, Neill Park, North River Hills Park, Red Oak Park and Wood Park.

Simple Steps Walking Program: Boost energy and reduce stress while walking in your community with friends and family in this program provided by Dakota County.

S.O.R.R. Ground Pounders Grand Prix Running Series: A variety of races offer everyone the chance to get involved. Six races are available in different S.O.R.R. communities throughout the summer and you can earn points (and prizes) for each race in which you participate.

S.O.R.R. Who Done It Hike: Collect clues, gather information and solve a mystery while walking trails with friends and family. Held in September.

Tree Sale: The City's annual spring sale for Burnsville residents features a variety of root trees, native shrubs, wildflowers, ferns and grasses. The sale is coordinated by the Forestry Department. Held in April.

South of the River Recreators (S.O.R.R.)

The City of Burnsville partners with Apple Valley, Eagan, Lakeville, Savage, Farmington and Rosemount to offer unique opportunities for recreation. Activities take place in the S.O.R.R. cities. View more S.O.R.R. programs.
