I Brake for People
I Brake for PeopleDid you know that every intersection is a legal crosswalk, whether the intersection is marked or not? Both motorists and pedestrians alike need to know the laws and comply with them to ensure safety on city streets.

To play it safe, Burnsville is launching "I Brake for People", a pedestrian safety campaign designed to educate drivers on how to interact with pedestrians safely. The campaign comes complete with a "I Brake for People" bumper sticker to raise awareness and compliance with Minnesota's crosswalk law. That law relies on common sense by both motorists and pedestrians to ensure safety in the crosswalk. "I Brake for People" reminds everyone that safety in the crosswalk is about more than complying with the law.

"I Brake for People" is part of the city's Slow Down Traffic Safety Program, a coordinated effort to reduce speeds and crashes while improving the overall safety on city streets. For more information or to get a "I Brake for People" bumper sticker contact Bonnie Buck, Traffic Safety Coordinator, at 952-895-4536 or visit Burnsville City Hall.
