Some important information to consider:
State Primary: August 10, 2010 (NEW LAW)
State General Election: November 2, 2010
Voting locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Register early (20 days prior) to avoid long lines at the polls.
* Absentee Voting begins 46 days prior to the election. Be prepared if you will be unable to vote at your precinct on Election Day. [See qualifications to absentee vote] (NEW LAW)
*Three New Polling Locations as Replacements for Precincts 11, 12 and 14
Crossroads Church replaces Rejoice Church
Grace United Methodist Church replaces Dakota County Library
Echo Park Elementary School replaces City Maintenance Facility
* The City of Burnsville utilizes 17 locations for their polling precincts. Please use the Polling Place Finder link to locate your precinct.
* Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. (no earlier) to 8:00 p.m. (no later).
* Employers are required to allow time from work no matter what time for voting. (NEW LAW)
* The longest lines usually are first thing in the morning. If you chose to go early be aware that it could take time to go through the voting process.
* The City uses trained Election Judges at all it's polling locations and Trained Student Judges assist during the General Election.
* City Council passed an ordinance in 2006 allowing for a Primary.
