Home Remodeling Advisor Program
Do you want to try something new with your home but don’t know where to turn? The City of Burnsville’s Home Remodeling Advisor Program may be able to help. Answers to questions about adding a deck or putting on a new addition or replacing windows, and more are now available, free of charge for Burnsville homeowners.

Experienced and Unbiased Advice – free!
The Home Remodeling Advisor Program matches an experienced, unbiased remodeling advisor directly with a homeowner to discuss remodeling ideas. The free service will provide for an on-site visit and review of your contemplated project by an industry expert. The visit is intended to provide homeowners with guidance on prioritizing projects, specifics about contemplated work, assessing improvements that may be needed, identifying any required permit, dealing with contractors, cost estimating, and even information on financing tools.

The advisors are not city or county staff but are experienced building professionals that provide similar services in other communities. They are not contractors and are not selling any products. They are hired by the City and the CDA to educate and assist homeowners in assessing remodeling projects and home maintenance needs. The project is available on a first come first served basis. Funding has been allocated for 100 homes.

Partnership Approach
The City of Burnsville is partnering with the Center for Energy and the Environment (CEE) and the Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) for the program. CEE is a leading non-profit organization that promotes the responsible use of natural and economic resources. The CDA is the county’s housing agency that works with cities to provide programs to help revitalize their communities. The program is part of the City of Burnsville’s continuing program to maintain and improve neighborhood viability.

More information: Contact CEE at www.mncee.org or 612-335-5856 for additional information or to set up an appointment.
