Burnsville Housing and Remodeling Resources


Incorporated in 1964, The City of Burnsville experienced explosive population growth and the construction of many single family homes during the decades of the 1960’s and 1970’s. As Burnsville’s housing stock ages, the City is interested in providing resources for homeowners to keep their homes in top condition. This special resource section provides information on home financing, repair and remodeling resources, options for senior housing, rental housing options and more.

Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA)
As one of the largest housing program providers in the State of Minnesota, the Dakota County CDA offers a variety of programs aimed at assisting households with rental and homeownership needs.

The CDA's homeownership programs 
include homebuyer education, mortgage loans, down payment assistance, and a variety of home improvement loans. To find out more about these programs visit their website:

The CDA's rental assistance programs include the Section 8 Rental Assistance, Scattered Site Housing, and the Family Townhome Program, as well as a program designed specifically for seniors.

Minnesota Housing Finance Agency
The Minnesota Homes Division of MHFA is here to help Minnesotans achieve successful homeownership through low interest home mortgage, home improvement and property rehabilitation loans, down payment assistance, homeowner training, and support for community development and revitalization efforts. MHFA has affordable loans so YOU CAN own or fix a home of your own.

Minnesota Mortgage Program (MMP) is a first time homebuyer loan

Community Fix-Up Fund is available to help community's address their home improvement needs and objectives. In cooperation with a local partner, Minnesota lenders who participate in the Fix-Up Fund are eligible to apply for access to these program funds in a designated community.

Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA)
The CDA Senior Housing Program is designed for adults age 55+. All of our buildings are beautifully decorated, offer optional one and two bedroom apartments, and are equipped with such amenities as community rooms with fireplace and kitchen, library areas, laundry facilities, and electronic entry systems.
