Suppression
Fire Suppression

The Burnsville Fire Department has 33 suppression shift firefighters dispersed among three shifts. These shifts staff two fire stations located within the city 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Each station staffs a fire engine and an Advanced Live Support (ALS) ambulance. The assigned station staffing levels range from a minimum of four firefighter/paramedics, one Fire Motor Operator (FMO) and one Captain.

Each station responds to fire calls within its own district and assists the other station on structure fires or other resource -intensive incidents. Additional resources from Mutual Aid partners in other cities are requested for multiple alarm fires. Our engines are equipped with up-to-date equipment and technologies such as firefighting foams, thermal imaging cameras and computers.

The goal of Burnsville's Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responders is to reach 80 percent of emergency calls in nine minutes or less (inclusive of dispatch processing, turnout, and travel times).
