Police Officers

Burnsville Police Officers are responsible for the delivery of a full range of police services to achieve the effective protection of lives and property in our community. Those services include crime prevention, criminal apprehension, enforcing laws and ordinances, providing emergency life-saving response, and maintaining effective community relations.

 

Qualifications

Four-year college degree, valid Minnesota Peace Officer License or be eligible to be licensed in the State of Minnesota, non-smoker.

 

Examinations

Preliminary and oral board interviews, background investigation, physical, psychological, drug testing.

Community Service Officer

The Burnsville Community Service Officer position is designed to be an internship/training experience for individuals academically pursuing a future career in law enforcement, and will provide a hiring pool for future Police Officer openings. CSOs are assigned to perform a variety of duties in the Operations and Services Divisions of our agency. Every effort is made to schedule these duties so as to allow for their academic needs.

 

Qualifications

High school graduate, non-smoker, interested in a law enforcement career.

 

Examinations

Preliminary and oral board interviews, background investigation, physical, psychological, drug testing.
