August 2, 2017
Placing the first layer of asphalt in Phase 4 is tentatively scheduled for Friday 8/4/17.  Phase 4 driveways and boulevard restoration will take place after the first layer of asphalt is installed.  Phase 5 curb removals are scheduled for the week of 8/7/17.  Phase 5 curb replacements are scheduled for the week of 8/14/17.  Placing the first layer of asphalt in Phase 5 is scheduled for the week of 8/21/17.  All phases of the project will be substantially complete by 8/25/17.

Older Updates

July 21, 2017
The Contractor is finishing replacing curb in Phase 4.  Street reclamation in Phase 4 is scheduled for early to middle of the week of 7/24/17.  Grading of Phase 4 is scheduled for the middle to end of the week of 7/24/17.  Paving of the first layer of asphalt in Phase 4 is scheduled for early in the week of 7/31/17.  The Contractor is tentatively scheduled to start curb removals in Phase 5 on 7/27/17.  All phases of the project are on track to be completed by 8/25/17.  Please note that seed areas will be touched up and reseeded as needed to establish yard areas after mid August.

July 13, 2017
The Contractor is starting Phase 4 curb removals on Saturday 7/15/17.  The Contractor is tentatively scheduled to start curb replacements in Phase 4 early in the week of 7/17/17.  The Contractor is tentatively scheduled for street reclamation and grading in Phase 4 the week of 7/24/17.  Paving will be scheduled after the grading is complete.

June 28, 2017
The Contractor is finishing utility work in Phase 4.  There will be no work taking place over the weekend through the July 4 Holiday.  The Contractor will start curb removals in Phase 4 starting Monday 7/10/17.  Phase 4 curb replacement, reclamation, and grading will take place during the weeks of 7/10/17 and 7/17/17. 

June 22, 2017
Due to weather the Contractor has rescheduled the closure of Crystal Lake Road from Tyacke Drive to Crystal Drive West to Friday 6/23/17 during the day.

June 21, 2017
The Contractor has moved up the schedule for paving the first layer of asphalt on Phase 3 to Friday 6/23/17.  The Contractor will be doing manhole adjustments on Crystal Lake Road from Tyacke Drive to Crystal Drive West on Thursday 6/22/17.  Crystal Lake Road from Tyacke Drive to Crystal Drive West will be closed Thursday 6/22/17 during the day.

June 19, 2017
The Contractor has completed curb replacement in Phase 3 and is in the process of reclaiming the streets.  After reclamation is done in Phase 3 the Contractor will be performing grading in preparation for paving.  Placement of the first layer of pavement in Phase 3 is tentatively scheduled for the week of 6/26/17.  The Contractor will be doing spot storm sewer upgrades in Phase 4 of the project later in the week of 6/19/17.  Curb removals in Phase 4 are tentatively scheduled for the week of 6/26/17.

June 8, 2017
Placement of the first layer of asphalt in Phase 1 of the project and on Tyacke Drive from Chestnut Drive to Chestnut Drive is complete.  The Contractor is tentatively scheduled to raise utility castings in those areas early in the week of 6/12/17.  The Contractor is performing grading in Phase 2 and is tentatively scheduled to place the first layer of asphalt Friday (6/9/17) or Saturday (6/10/17).  Phase 2 boulevard seeding is tentatively scheduled for the week of 6/12/17.  Phase 3 curb, driveway, and casting removals are underway.  Phase 3 is tentatively scheduled for reclamation on 6/19/17.

June 1, 2017
The Contractor has completed reclaiming Phase 1.  Grading is underway in Phase 1.  The Contractor is tentatively scheduled to place the first layer of asphalt on Interlachen Road and Butternut Lane by the end of the day Friday (6/2/17).  The remaining areas in Phase 1 are scheduled for installation of the first layer of asphalt the week of 6/5/17.  Phase 3 curb removals may start after the first layer of asphalt has been installed in Phase 1.

May 24, 2017
The intersection of 153rd Street and Tyacke Drive will be closed for most of the day on Thursday (5/25/17) for storm sewer installation.  Please use alternate routes during the closure.  The storm sewer is expected to take about one day to complete.

May 18, 2017
The Contractor has been working on sanitary sewer on the project.  The Contractor will be installing storm sewer in Phases 1 and 2 of the project during the week of 5/22/17.  The intersections of Chestnut Drive / Tyacke Drive and 153rd Street / Tyacke Drive will need to be closed for about a day each for storm sewer construction.  Check back to the project page for further updates.

May 10, 2017
The Contractor plans to start work in Phases 1 and 2 of the project Friday (5/12/17).  The Contractor is starting with reclamation of localized areas receiving storm sewer upgrades including the intersections of Chestnut Drive / Tyacke Drive and 153rd Street / Tyacke Drive.  The Contractor is tentatively scheduled to install storm sewer in Phases 1 and 2 of the project starting Monday (5/15/17).  The two intersections listed above will need to be closed while the Contractor is working in them.  Check back to this project page for further updates.  The storm sewer in Phases 1 and 2 is anticipated to take about a week to complete, weather permitting.  In the meantime the Contractor will also be doing curb and driveway spot removal and replacement in Phases 1 and 2 prior to reclamation of the streets.

Reclamation of all the streets in Phases 1 and 2 of the project will be scheduled at a later date.  Phases 1 and 2 are being done together to expedite the construction of the project.  Construction work is very weather-dependent so this schedule may shift due to rain and/or cold temperatures.

April 19, 2017
The City has awarded a contract to McNamara Contracting, Inc. for the street improvements in the North Crystal Lake neighborhood as a part of the City’s 2017 Street Reclamation Project.

A neighborhood meeting is being held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 3:30 to 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall for property owners interested in learning more about this project. A formal letter explaining the project and providing notification of the neighborhood meeting was recently mailed to property owners.

City staff completed a preconstruction meeting with representatives from McNamara Contracting, Inc. and private utility companies. At this meeting, the project schedule was discussed. McNamara Contracting plans to start work in the North Crystal Lake area on Monday, May 15th. Work within the North Crystal Lake neighborhood is expected to be complete by the end of August. Construction activities are very weather dependent so the Contractor’s schedule may change due to weather. 

Work within the North Crystal Lake Neighborhood will be broken into 5 phases and it is anticipated that construction in each phase will last about 6-weeks. The streets within the various phases are as follows:

  • Phase 1 – Interlachen Road, Butternut Lane, Chestnut Drive, and Chestnut Circle (anticipated start date: May 15th)
  • Phase 2 – Tyacke Drive, 152nd Street East, and Swanson Circle (anticipated start date: May 29th)
  • Phase 3 – Crystal Lake Road (from Tyacke Dr. to Chicago Ave.), Crystal Drive West, Crystal Drive East, Crystal Lake Terrace, 153rd Street East (anticipated start date: June 8th)
  • Phase 4 – Oakland Avenue, Park Avenue, and 151st Street East (anticipated start date: June 19th)
  • Phase 5 – Rushmore Drive, Lead Street, 152nd Street East, and Crystal Lake Road East (from Chicago Avenue to Lac Lavon Dr.) (anticipated start date: July 10th)

Jan. 3, 2017
A neighborhood meeting is being held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 3:30 to 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall for property owners interested in learning more about this project.
