Older Updates

August 19, 2016

Curb replacement work has been completed throughout the project areas.  Crews will be continuing with utility structure adjustments over the next week, as well as completing topsoil and seed placement behind the replaced curbs.  At this time, due to scheduling conflicts and crew availability, the Contractor has requested to hold-off on scheduling pavement milling and asphalt placement until closer to Labor Day or into early-September.

August 10, 2016

Crews anticipate completing curb removals by the end of the day today.  Starting on August 11, crews will be installing concrete curb in the curb removal locations, weather permitting.  Crews will also be adjusting utility structure castings and patching asphalt in the curb replacement areas over the next week.

July 27, 2016

Work in all neighborhoods will begin the week of August 8th with sawcutting of curbs to be replaced.  Curb replacements have been marked in white paint, and is being limited to situations where there is severe cracking, settlement, structural, or drainage issues.  Curb with smaller cracks or situations where curb has not impeded drainage are not scheduled to be replaced.

Residents who have irrigation systems are encouraged to mark these in any areas where the curb has been marked for replacement prior to August 8th.

Where curb removals may impact driveway access, residents will be notified if vehicles need to be moved out of your garage or driveway for the duration of the curb replacement work.  Notices will be distributed in your front doors.

The City has awarded a contract to McNamara Contracting, Inc. to perform maintenance overlay work in the Meadow Acres, Knob Hill, and Frontier Lane neighborhoods this summer.  This project is part of a bi-annual maintenance program to perform a minimally invasive, full-width bituminous pavement overlay on residential streets that are not scheduled for street reconstruction work in the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in the next 10 years.  The overlay is intended to provide for added pavement life until the streets can be included in the City’s CIP for more comprehensive rehabilitation or reconstruction.

Work on this project will include modifications to existing utility structures, minor curb repair in areas that have settled significantly and are holding water, milling of portions or the entire roadway and then resurfacing the entire roadway. All project work is anticipated to begin after August 1, and be completed by the end of September.

A formal letter explaining the project was recently mailed to property owners, and a copy of the letter with the project area map and contacts for project staff can be viewed by clicking the link below:
