New Updates

August 19, 2016

Following final pavement striping and new roadway sign installation, the work on Maple Island Road is substantially complete.  Over the next few weeks, crews will be cleaning up any remaining construction debris, and will be monitoring restoration areas for weeds and re-seeding as necessary.

The City of Burnsville and McNamara Contracting thank you for your patience and cooperation as we have worked to bring you improved streets and utility infrastructure.  Property owners who have any residual concerns or questions regarding the work on the project are encouraged to contact the project inspector, Brad Mikiska, at 952-356-4506.

Older Updates

July 21, 2016

Crews have completed grading, curb, and the first layer of pavement on Maple Island Road.  Over the next week, crews will be adjusting utility structures, backfilling curb, grading boulevard/ditch areas, performing topsoil placement and seeding, and preparing for the second layer of pavement, which is anticipated to be placed during the week of July 25th.

July 12, 2016

Crews began reclaiming the pavement today, and anticipate this work to be completed later this week.  Crews will be grading and excavating the top 4” of reclaimed material and re-shaping the roadway surface for paving.  Reclaimed pavement will be compacted in-place so vehicles can still drive on it, although local residents are encouraged to utilize alternative access routes where possible.

Crews will complete utility installation work at the south junction of Maple Island Road on Friday (weather permitting), and curb is anticipated to be installed late in the week of July 18th.

July 7, 2016

Crews anticipate beginning pavement reclamation activities along Maple Island Road the week of July 11.  Traffic control signs, including “Road Closed to Through Traffic” signs will be placed at either end of the project.  Local traffic will still be able to access properties along Maple Island Road, although residential traffic is encouraged to utilize alternative access points to County Road 46 south of Crystal Lake, including Jamaica Ave. and Bluebill Bay Road.

Work on the project is anticipated to last up to four weeks, with the roadway in an “unpaved” condition for up to three weeks.
