New Updates

September 27, 2016

Last week, crews completed the final layer of asphalt pavement throughout the Wood Park neighborhood.  Over the next few weeks, crews will be cleaning up any remaining construction debris, cleaning storm and sanitary sewer pipes and structures, and will be monitoring restoration areas for weeds and re-seeding as necessary.

The City of Burnsville and McNamara Contracting thank you for your patience and cooperation as we have worked to bring you improved streets and utility infrastructure.  Property owners who have any residual concerns or questions regarding the work on the project are encouraged to contact the project manager, Brian Connolly, at 952-895-4457, or via e-mail at .

September 20, 2016

Over the last week, crews made repairs to the pavement base-course, mainly along the curb line at low spots, to repair pavement that had cracked or heaved due to saturated subgrade material.  This was done in preparation for paving the final layer of asphalt pavement, which is tentatively scheduled to occur starting on Wednesday, September 21, weather dependent.  While crews anticipate being able to pave the entire neighborhood in one day, work may extend into two days if rain becomes a factor.

Older Updates

August 31, 2016

Crews have completed utility structure adjustments throughout the Wood Park neighborhood.  For the remainder of this week, crews will be backfilling curb, repairing irrigation system damage, and restoring landscape beds and seeding boulevard areas.  Crews will be returning after Sept. 12 to address some subgrade/paving issues along curb-lines and at low points.  This delay is necessary to allow the subgrade to further dry-out and ensure any additional cracking in the first layer of pavement can be revealed and properly addressed.  Once this work is completed, the final layer of pavement will be placed.

Seeded areas will be watered and maintained by the Contractor for a period of 45 days.  Residents are encouraged to help water the seed, as additional watering and keeping the soil moist will help ensure quicker seed germination.  Seed in sunny areas are more likely to need more water, and the best time to apply water is in the evenings.  As fall temperatures start to drop, seed will germinate more quickly.  Residents can mow the seed after it reaches 4” in height.

August 25, 2016

Crews have completed grading the road base and installing all remaining curb and concrete items.  The first layer of pavement has been placed on 145th St., 144th St., and 11th Ave.  Later this week, crews plan on completing the first layer of pavement on the 145th St. cul-de-sacs, 146th St., and 10th Ave.  Crews are waiting on these streets to allow the aggregate base to dry out following the rainfalls we’ve experienced in the last week.

Starting the week of August 29th, crews will be backfilling curb, installing topsoil and seed, and will be raising utility structure castings throughout the neighborhood.  At this time, crews anticipate paving the final layer of pavement the week of Labor Day.

August 19, 2016

Construction crews are actively grading the reclaimed asphalt and aggregate material throughout the neighborhood in preparation for paving to occur.  Over the next week, concrete work will finish up on 146th St. and 10th Ave., and crews anticipate starting paving on these two streets, and then move to the other residential sections of the neighborhood.  Crews will place the first layer of pavement, and then raise utility structures to finished grade and complete topsoil and seed placement in areas impacted by curb and sidewalk replacements, followed by placement of the second and final layer of pavement.

August 10, 2016

Crews have wrapped up the majority of concrete work within the Wood Park neighborhood.  Crews started pavement reclamation work today, and will continue with pavement reclamation and roadway grading/excavation through the end of the week.  Crews anticipate grading and preparation work for paving to take up to a week to complete, which will be followed by paving of the first layer of asphalt pavement.

July 21, 2016

Over the past week, City staff have begun marking curb, sidewalk, and driveway aprons for removal and replacement as part of the upcoming construction work.  Concrete removals and repairs are anticipated to begin on August 1 throughout the neighborhood.

Also starting August 1, the City’s contractor will begin potholing gas main crossings throughout the Wood Park neighborhood.  Property owners can expect to see potholes in boulevard areas (behind the curb) and at certain locations within the street section, marked with cones and construction barriers.

Irrigation systems next to curb or sidewalk areas that have been painted for removal should be identified and marked by property owners over the next week.  Flags, paint, or stakes can be used to highlight the location of irrigation heads and other components so the contractor can try to protect these items during construction.  Marked irrigation components damaged during construction will be repaired after construction work is completed by the City’s contractor.  Other underground components such as private electrical lines or invisible fences WILL NOT be repaired by the Contractor if damaged.  Property owners with these types of components located in the boulevard areas are encouraged to notify construction staff (see link above) and either remove or protect these components until construction is completed.

April 27, 02016

The Contractor has provided the City their proposed work schedule, and work in the Wood Park neighborhood will not commence until after July 4th of this year.  We will provide more detailed schedule updates on this site closer to the start of construction.
