General Items - NEW

Special assessments for the project were approved by the City Council at their meeting on September 8, 2015.  Assessment costs and payment information is available in the letters sent on August 20, 2015.  Property owners wishing to pay their special assessments in-full for the street work are reminded that payment is due no later than Friday, October 30, 2015.  Questions regarding assessment payoff amounts may be directed to Molly Stone at 952-895-4495, or .

September 10, 2015

McAndrews Road to TH 13  

Striping of the roadway has begun, and final cleanup is expected to be completed this week.  The Contractor will complete turf restoration efforts where the initial seeding did not become established appropriately. Crews will continue with punchlist items over the coming weeks.   

The City of Burnsville and Valley Paving thank you for your patience and cooperation as we have worked to bring you improved streets and utility infrastructure.  Property owners who have any residual concerns or questions regarding the work on the project are encouraged to contact one of the project inspectors, Bob Flaws (612-328-0742) or Gage Morgan (612-849-1091).

McAndrews Road to TH 13  

Paving work is completed on the mainline Nicollet Avenue.  There are still some side road connections that need to be paved, and that is tentatively scheduled to occur on Friday, September 4.  The contractor will cleaning up the corridor this week and striping the roadway mid-next week.  Punch list work will continue after that.

August 28, 2015 


McAndrews Road to TH 13  

Median work continues, but is nearly completed.  Milling and paving of the roadway is scheduled to begin the week of August 31st. Nicollet Ave. road users should anticipate delays during the milling and paving process, as the work will require frequent traffic interruptions to allow for trucking and equipment access throughout the corridor.  

Notification of the Public Hearing for this project was sent on August 20 to all property owners with proposed final assessments to the property owner address on file with Dakota County.  The assessment value for each property has been noted in that letter.  The Public Hearing is on September 8, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Burnsville City Hall. 

August 20, 2015 

McAndrews Road to TH 13  

Replacement of the paver sidewalk is now completed.  Median work and utility structure rehabilitation located on the inside traffic lanes is ongoing and is expected to be completed by late-August.  Milling and paving of the roadway is tentatively scheduled to be completed right before Labor Day.
 

The section from Meadow Circle S to just south of 134th Street is anticipated to be open to 4 lanes of traffic by the end of the week.


August 13, 2015 

Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Replacement of the paver sidewalk is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  Median work and utility structure rehabilitation located on the inside traffic lanes has begun and is expected to be completed by late-August.  Milling and paving of the roadway is tentatively scheduled to be completed right before Labor Day. 

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

The signal system at Nicollet Avenue and 134th Street has been activated and is operational.  Expect minor tweaks to the system as the road work continues to progress.  Thank you for your patience while this signal was out of service.  

Traffic is continuing to be shifted to the outside lanes so concrete replacement and utility structure work can continue.  Work on the inside lanes and medians is expected to be completed by the end of August.  Milling and paving of the roadway is tentatively scheduled to be completed right before Labor Day. 

The section from Meadow Circle S to just south of 134th Street is anticipated to be open to 4 lanes of traffic during the week of August 17.

August 5, 2015 


Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Replacement of the paver sidewalk has begun and is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  Upon completion, traffic will be switched to the outside lanes to allow median and utility structure work to begin on the inside lanes.   

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

Traffic has been shifted to the outside lanes so concrete replacement and utility structure work can commence.  That work has started and is expected to take approximately two weeks.  Crews are working on the signal system at 134th Street with the goal of testing and activating that signal the week of August 10th.

July 29, 2015 

Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Replacement of the paver block sidewalks in this area are ongoing and are expected to be completed in early August.  Once sidewalk work is completed, traffic will shift to the outside lanes so that median restoration work can commence.  

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

Work on the 134th Street/Woodcrest Drive/Nicollet Avenue signal continues to progress.  Crews are working on handhole and loop detector installation this week.  

The pipe bursting work has been completed between Meadow Circle North and Timberland Drive.  Crews will be working on utility structure adjustments over the next week, as well as performing boulevard restoration work. 

July 23, 2015 

Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Replacement of the paver block sidewalks in this area have begun and are expected to be completed in early August.  Traffic will remain in the inside lanes for the next couple weeks. 

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

The signal at 134th Street/Woodcrest Drive/Nicollet Avenue has been removed.  This intersection will remain in a 2 way stop condition until the new signal is operational.  The signal posts and arms have been installed.  The new replacement signal is expected to be completed in early to mid-August.   

The Contractor has completed the sewer rehabilitation project this week including opening 136th Street and Meadow Circle North.  Outside lane curb and sidewalk replacement will be completed by the end of this week with the exception of the pedestrian ramp at the northwest corner of Burnsville Parkway and Nicollet Avenue because of private utility conflict and at Meadow Circle North associated with the sewer rehabilitation project. 

July 17, 2015 

Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Replacement of the paver block sidewalk on the southbound lanes in front of Nicollet Commons Park has begun.  Replacement of other Heart of the City elements such as landscaping and other miscellaneous paver sections will be completed during this time.   There will be tree replacement in the boulevards that occur as well. 

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

The signal at 134th Street/Woodcrest Drive/Nicollet Avenue has been removed.  This intersection will remain in a 2 way stop condition until the new signal is operational.  The concrete sidewalk sections in this area have been poured as well as the signal post foundations.  The new replacement signal is expected to be completed in late July or early August.   

Outside lane curb and sidewalk replacement will be complete by the end of this week.  The Contractor has begun a sewer rehabilitation project that will require closure of the inside lanes most likely starting next week.  136th Street and Meadow Circle North at Nicollet Avenue are currently closed for this work.  This work is expected to be completed by the end of next week.

July 8, 2015 

Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Manhole structure repair and sidewalk/curb replacement is completed on all of the outside lanes.  Bituminous roadway patching at Travelers Trail and 125th Street will be completed early next week.  Inside lane median improvements are expected to begin in mid-July after the International Festival which will take place from July 10-12 in Nicollet Commons Park.  Replacement of the paver block sidewalk on the southbound lanes in front of Nicollet Commons Park will likely start next week.

Manhole structure repair continues on the outside lanes.  The final underground excavation work for watermain pipe installation will be completed in East Travelers Trail this week just east of Nicollet Avenue.  Concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk repair on the outside lanes will continue.   

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

The signal at 134th Street/Woodcrest Drive/Nicollet Avenue has been removed.  This is being done to replace this signal.  The new replacement signal is expected to be completed in August.  Temporary pedestrian crossing facilities at this intersection will be placed in the near future.   

Outside lane curb and sidewalk removals are expected to be completed up to where Centerpoint Energy’s work has been completed this week and concrete replacement in those areas will be completed next week.  After those work items are completed, work on the inside lanes will commence.  

June 18, 2015 
 
Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Utility work is expected to be completed next week.  Curb and gutter and sidewalk work will be continue on the outside lanes this week and likely next week.  After that is completed, curb and gutter and median work will commence. 

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

The signal at 134th Street/Woodcrest Drive/Nicollet Avenue will be removed starting on June 22nd.  This is being done to replace this signal.  The new replacement signal is expected to be completed in August.  Outside lane curb and gutter and sidewalk is expected to be completed next week.  CenterPoint Energy is working to be completed with their work at the end of next week as well.  After those work items are completed, work on the inside lanes will commence.  

June 11, 2015 

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

Curb and gutter and the sidewalk replacement work will begin in the northbound lanes at the end of this week and will continue into next week.  CenterPoint Energy continues to work on the southbound lanes/sidewalk.   CenterPoint may be done with their work on June 26.  This will work will result in a one lane in each direction condition.  

June 3, 2015 

Burnsville Parkway to TH 13 

Patching of the utility trenches is expected be completed by the end of this week and opened to two lanes of traffic temporarily.  This section of Nicollet Avenue will be closed totally at Travelers Trail in each direction the weekend of June 12-June 14 starting at 9 pm on that Friday night for the final construction of underground utility work.   

McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway

Curb and gutter and the sidewalk replacement work will begin in the northbound lanes late next week.  CenterPoint Energy continues to work on the southbound lanes/sidewalk.   This will result in a one lane in each direction condition.  

May 28, 2015


Between Burnsville Parkway and TH 13, traffic control is in place with single lane traffic in each direction in the westerly lanes.  No left turns will be allowed during this phase.  This is being done for underground utility work.  Traffic is expected to be switched back to normal mid-week the week of June 1st.  Street work will commence again sometime in later June in this area and traffic will be in a one lane in each direction, although it is not expected to be shifted fully to one side of the road of the other during street work activities.  Nicollet Avenue is tentatively scheduled to be closed from TH 13 to Burnsville Parkway the weekend of June 12-14 for underground utility work. 

Street work on Nicollet Avenue from McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway is expected to start the week of June 8.  Work is expected to commence from the south at Meadow Circle South to Civic Center Parkway in the northbound lanes.  The work area will be in a one lane in each direction condition. 

May 22, 2015


Between Burnsville Parkway and TH 13, traffic control is in place with single lane traffic in each direction in the easterly lanes.  No left turns will be allowed during this phase.  This is being done for underground utility work.  Traffic is expected to be fully open over the Memorial Day Weekend.  Traffic is scheduled to be shifted to the westerly lanes next week (May 26-29) and the week of June 1 for continued utility work.  Nicollet Avenue is tentatively scheduled to be closed from TH 13 to Burnsville Parkway the weekend of June 12-14 for underground utility work. 

Street work on Nicollet Avenue from McAndrews Road to Burnsville Parkway is expected to start June 8.

May 14, 2015


The City’s work on Nicollet Avenue between TH 13 and Burnsville Parkway is expected to begin on May 18.  Traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes, one lane in each direction, with utility work occurring in the southbound lanes.  Left turns will not be allowed on Nicollet Avenue between Burnsville Parkway and TH 13, right turns will be allowed.  Detour routes/business signage will be provided.   

Traffic is expected to be switched to the southbound lanes the week of May 25 with utility work occurring in the northbound lanes.  Once again left turn lanes will not be allowed and detours will be provided.   

Street work through the remainder of the project area is scheduled to begin June 8.  

February 20, 2015

A formal letter was mailed to property owners on February 19, 2015 regarding a Public Hearing for the proposed street rehabilitation project along Nicollet Avenue.  The merits of the project will be discussed an voted on by the City Council at this Public Hearing.  Property owners wishing to express their opinion of the project to the City Council will have the opportunity to do so at this meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.  A copy of the letter can be viewed by clicking here

A neighborhood meeting is being held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 3:30 to 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall for property owners interested in learning more about this project.
