General Items - NEW

Special assessments for the project were approved by the City Council at their meeting on September 8, 2015.  Assessment costs and payment information is available in the letters sent on August 20, 2015.  Property owners wishing to pay their special assessments in-full for the street work are reminded that payment is due no later than Friday, October 30, 2015.  Questions regarding assessment payoff amounts may be directed to Molly Stone at 952-895-4495, or .

September 3, 2015

35W to County Road 42

Valley Paving has completed the roadway striping on Burnsville Parkway.  With this work, the construction along Burnsville Parkway has been substantially completed. Crews will continue with cleanup work and punchlist items over the coming weeks.   

The City of Burnsville and Valley Paving thank you for your patience and cooperation as we have worked to bring you improved streets and utility infrastructure.  Property owners who have any residual concerns or questions regarding the work on the project are encouraged to contact one of the project inspectors, Bob Flaws (612-328-0742) or Gage Morgan (612-849-1091). 

August 28, 2015 

35W to County Road 42 

Milling and paving of the entire project area has been completed along with striping of the roadway with the exception of cross walk striping.  Turf restoration has not been accepted by the City at this time; the Contractor will be working on remedying the areas that have not become established with grass. 

Notification of the Public Hearing for this project was sent on August 20 to all property owners with proposed final assessments to the property owner address on file with Dakota County.  The assessment value for each property has been noted in that letter.  The Public Hearing is on September 8, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Burnsville City Hall. 

August 20, 2015

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Milling and paving of the section from Southcross to the Sunset Pond Park was completed last Saturday.  Striping of the lanes is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

35W to County Road 5 Section

Milling and paving of the roadway has been completed.  Striping of the lanes is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  There will be some trees planted in the middle of the turf median areas in the next couple of weeks.

August 13, 2015 


County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Milling and paving of the section from Southcross to the Sunset Pond Park access is scheduled to occur at the end of this week and be completed likely Saturday or early next week with striping of the lanes late next week. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Milling of the roadway surface has been completed.  Paving is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  Striping of the lanes is expected to occur next week.

August 5, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Milling and paving of the section from Southcross to the Sunset Pond Park access is now scheduled for the week of August 10th.

Milling and paving of the section continues to be on the schedule for the week of August 10th.


July 29, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Due to weather impacts, the milling and paving of the section from Southcross/Judicial to the Sunset Pond Park parking lot has been postponed to the week of August 3rd.  Milling and paving work will occur over a two-day period. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Additional structure adjustments will be occurring this week, as well as preparation for restoration of the boulevard areas.  Boulevard seeding will occur during the week of August 3rd, with milling and paving now likely to occur the week of August 10th. 

July 16, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Milling and paving of the section from Southcross/Judicial to the Sunset Pond Park parking lot is scheduled to be completed at the end of next week. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Concrete work and utility structure modifications are completed at this time. Backfilling of curbs, turf restoration efforts and median tree and turf improvements will also be completed by early next week.  Milling and paving of this roadway section is expected the week of August 3rd. 

July 16, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

The section from Southcross/Judicial to the Sunset Pond Park parking lot is scheduled to be completed within the next two weeks. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Concrete work and utility structure modifications are expected to be completed by the end of next week. Median tree and turf improvements will also be completed by the end of July.  Milling and paving of this roadway section is expected to occur the last week of July or the first week in August. 

July 8, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Striping of the roadway was completed this week and the road is fully open from County Road 5 to the Southcross/Judicial intersection.  The section from Southcross/Judicial to the Sunset Pond Park parking lot is scheduled to be completed later in July, to be timed with the section of Burnsville Parkway from County Road 5 to 35W. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Concrete work and utility structure modifications on the north side of the west bound lanes has been completed.  Median concrete work has started on both sides of the median.  Median tree and turf improvements will also be completed next week.  Milling and paving of this roadway section likely won’t commence until late July. 

July 1, 2015 


County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Milling and paving of the roadway surface was completed this week from County Road 5 to Southcross/Judicial Road.  Striping of the roadway is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  The section from Southcross/Judicial to the Sunset Pond Park parking lot will be completed later, likely the end of July, to allow the Metropolitan Council sewer project to be completed. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Concrete work on the north side of the west bound lanes has started.  Median concrete work will commence after completion of the northerly outside lane work.  Milling and paving of this roadway section likely won’t commence until late July. 

June 25, 2015 


County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Milling and paving of the roadway surface has begun and should be completed by the end of this week.  This is from County Road 5 to Southcross/Judicial Road.  The section from Southcross/Judicial to the Sunset Pond Park parking lot will be completed later to allow the Metropolitan Council sewer project to be completed. 

35W to County Road 5 Section 

Concrete work on the south side of the east bound lanes is complete, and backfilling will begin shortly.  Concrete repair work on the north side of the westbound lanes will begin shortly.  Median concrete work will commence after completion of the northerly outside lane work.  Milling and paving of this roadway section likely won’t commence until August. 

June 18, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section 

Tree installation in the medians is expected to occur this week.  Valley Paving is expecting to commence milling the pavement surface next week.  Paving of the roadway is expected to occur the week of June 29. 

35W to County Road 5 Section  

Curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement work has started.  Work on the outside curb lines and sidewalk is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  Work will continue on the inside median concrete replacement next week.  This will include tree replacement and median improvements.

June 11, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section 

Valley Paving completed the curb and gutter, sidewalk and utility structure repair work.  CenterPoint Energy has undertaken some of its own work in the area that resulted in additional curb and gutter removal/replacement and will replace those sections that are left to be replaced.  Milling and paving will occur yet this summer.  The exact schedule of that work is unknown at this time. 

35W to County Road 5 Section  

Curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement work has started.  Utility structure repair also will commence.  There will be some significant sidewalk relocations in this area to improve the pedestrian experience.   Expect some delays during this work.  Milling and paving will occur after the curb, sidewalk and utility work has been completed.

June 3, 2015 

County Road 5 to County Road 42 Section

Valley Paving continued removing and replacing damaged concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk sections.  Concrete replacement is expected to be completed by the end of this week.  Manhole and drainage inlet structure work will likely be completed next week.  After this work is complete, milling and paving is the next activity and will likely not begin for several weeks.  

35W to County Road 5 Section  

Curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement work will commence next week (expected to start June 8).  This work will result in Burnsville Parkway being in a one lane in each direction condition.  Expect delays especially during the morning and evening rush hours.

May 28, 2015

Traffic is in a one-lane in each direction condition currently from County Road 5 to County Road 42.  Curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement has begun and will continue next week. Utility structure repairs also will commence next week.  Work has started on concrete curb replacement and utility structure adjustments between County Road 5 and County Road 42.  They plan on completing all of this curb and structure work in this section by the week of June 8th.  Dates for paving of the roadway is unknown, but will likely occur in late-July or August.

May 22, 2015

Work has started on concrete curb replacement and utility structure adjustments between County Road 5 and County Road 42.  This work will continue until June 8 and will begin again in July.  The contractor will be moving traffic to the inside lanes and making concrete repairs (sidewalk, curb and utility structures) on the outside lanes.

May 14, 2015


Work is expected to begin on Burnsville Parkway between County Road 5 and County Road 42 on or after Monday, May 16th.  The contractor will be moving traffic to the inside lanes and making concrete repairs (sidewalk, curb and utility structures) on the outside lanes.  This work will be occurring late May into early June.  Milling and paving isn’t expected to occur until July or August. 

February 20, 2015

A formal letter was mailed to property owners on February 19, 2015 regarding a Public Hearing for the proposed street rehabilitation project along Burnsville Parkway.  The merits of the project will be discussed an voted on by the City Council at this Public Hearing.  Property owners wishing to express their opinion of the project to the City Council will have the opportunity to do so at this meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.  A copy of the letter can be viewed by clicking here

A neighborhood meeting is being held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 3:30 to 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall for property owners interested in learning more about this project.

A formal letter explaining the project and providing notification of the neighborhood meeting was recently mailed to property owners, and a copy of the letter with the project area map and contacts for City staff can be viewed by clicking the link below:
