General Items - NEW

Special assessments for the project were approved by the City Council at their meeting on September 8, 2015.  Assessment costs and payment information is available in the letters sent on August 20, 2015.  Property owners wishing to pay their special assessments in-full for the street work are reminded that payment is due no later than Friday, October 30, 2015.  Questions regarding assessment payoff amounts may be directed to Molly Stone at 952-895-4495, or .

August 28, 2015

Notification of the Public Hearing for this project was sent on August 20 to all property owners with proposed final assessments to the property owner address on file with Dakota County.  The assessment value for each property has been noted in that letter.  The Public Hearing is on September 8, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Burnsville City Hall. 

June 16, 2015

The City is aware that the turf replacement has not taken well.  The contractor will be making another effort in August to replace the turf that was damaged with the project.

June 3, 2015


Valley Paving has completed the milling and paving of the roadway surface, and has completed roadway striping.  With this work, the construction in the Aldrich Avenue area has been substantially completed.

May 28, 2015

Valley Paving has completed all concrete (curb and sidewalk) and utility structure work and has milled the existing pavement.  They also have completed turf restoration with topsoil and seed.  They are planning on paving the roadway overnight Thursday night (May 28/29) into the next morning weather dependent.  The roadway is then scheduled for permanent striping the week of June 1.  Permanent roadway signage will be placed in the near future as well.

Valley Paving will finish replacing curb and gutter and sidewalk and making repairs to utility structures the rest of the week.  They expect be complete turf restoration with topsoil and seed on Tuesday next week.  The expected schedule is for milling the existing pavement on Wednesday (May 27) in the morning and paving that same night starting around 9 pm on Wednesday night.  Striping of the lanes is expected to occur early the week of June 1.

May 14, 2015

Valley Paving will be switching traffic today and concrete replacements (curb, sidewalks and utility structures) will start on the lanes that haven’t been under construction yet.  Concrete is expected to be poured for those repairs on Friday if weather doesn’t slow down progress.  Milling of the existing pavement is expected to occur late the week of May 18.  Paving is expected to occur the week of May 25.  This work will likely begin in evening and be completed over night.

May 7, 2015


Valley Paving has installed traffic control on Aldrich Avenue, started removing curb and gutter on the outside lanes, then sidewalk removal and replacement will commence.  They will then move to inside curb and gutter replacements.  The week of May 11 will primarily involve curb and gutter work and utility structure repair on the inside lanes.  Milling and paving will likely occur at the end of the week of May 18 or the week of May 25.



February 20, 2015

A formal letter was mailed to property owners on February 19, 2015 regarding a Public Hearing for the proposed street rehabilitation project along Aldrich Avenue.  The merits of the project will be discussed and voted on by the City Council at this Public Hearing.  Property owners wishing to express their opinion of the project to the City Council will have the opportunity to do so at this meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.  A copy of the letter can be viewed by clicking here

A neighborhood meeting is being held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 3:30 to 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall for property owners interested in learning more about this project.

A formal letter explaining the project and providing notification of the neighborhood meeting was recently mailed to property owners, and a copy of the letter with the project area map and contacts for City staff can be viewed by clicking the link below:
