Bring Google Fiber to Burnsville

The nation’s leading search tool is asking a question.
Google Fiber for Communities
If Burnsville residents and businesses had access to ultra-high speed broadband internet access at competitive and affordable prices, what difference would that make in their lives? Google has invited Burnsville to step up to the plate to answer that question.
We are not alone.
Google is planning to launch a fiber-to-the-home network and cities such as Burnsville are providing information through a Request for Information (RFI) process which Google will use to determine where to build the network. Responses are due by Friday, March 26, 2010.
Let’s face it, there are going to be cities that have put more marketing resources into their response. We are going to keep it to the basics and rely on the “steak”, not the “sizzle” of our application.
Burnsville is a great choice. We have tech-savvy population and desirable demographics for such an experiment. We have the industries, health care facilities and education resources to serve as a laboratory. And, our city has invested in a fiber loop and fiber infrastructure that can help bring the network to reality quickly and at a lower cost.
What Can I Do?
Our response will provide the facts, our residents will need to provide the passion.
