Native Planting & Pollinator Lawn Workshop

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

Residents are invited to learn about ways to create a low-maintenance lawn and turn their yards into a haven for pollinators. Join John Stelzner, expert project installer with the Dakota County Soil & Water Conservation District, for a free workshop about native plantings and pollinator lawns.

This workshop will cover topics such as:
  • Benefits of native plantings and pollinator lawns
  • How to install these projects and cost estimates
  • Related City ordinances
  • State funding through the “Lawns to Legumes” program

Residents who convert areas of turf to native plantings often find that their landscaping requires less maintenance. It also benefits the environment by reducing runoff and supporting wildlife. For those looking for something a little different, pollinator lawns are a combination of grass and low-growing perennial flowers that form a usable, low-maintenance habitat that provides nectar and pollen for bees.
