Public Information Meeting on Wellhead Protection Plan and Burnsville Water Supply

Wednesday, February 27

Residents are invited to discuss issues, questions and concerns with The Wellhead Protection Plan, which identifies potential sources of contamination to Burnsville’s water supply, and outlines all of the required measures that have been put in place to avoid contamination.

Protecting Burnsville’s drinking water supply is a high priority for the City. As part of that ongoing protection, Burnsville is required to update its “Wellhead Protection Plan” every 10 years.

The Wellhead Protection Plan identifies all potential sources of contamination to Burnsville’s water supply, and outlines all of the required measures that have been put in place to avoid contamination.

The first phase of the Wellhead Protection Plan amendment has been approved by the Minnesota Department of Health. This portion of the plan included:
  1. Identifying the protection boundary around Burnsville’s wells.
  2. Identifying the protection boundary around Burnsville’s entire drinking water supply management area
  3. Identifying the areas that could potentially be harmful to the water supply.

Residents are invited to a Public Information Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 from 1-3 p.m. at Burnsville City Hall to discuss issues, questions and concerns with this portion of the plan amendment.
