Overview

The 123rd Area is planned for a 2018 street reclamation project. This street reclamation project consists of grinding up of the existing asphalt while mixing it with the gravel base, grading, paving, storm sewer repairs and upgrades, and sanitary sewer repairs. Curbs will be spot replaced where severely cracked or broken.

Final Assessments for the Project

 Public hearing notices, proposed final assessment amounts, and terms of repayment were mailed to owners of affected parcels on August 17, 2018. Final assessments were adopted following the public hearing on September 4, 2018. Full payment of assessments will be accepted through October 31, 2018. Assessments not paid in full by October 31, 2018 will be levied as a special assessment on your property taxes over a period of years with interest, as detailed in the invoice that was sent in the August 17, 2018 mailing. September 5, 2018

Final assessments were adopted following the public hearing on September 4, 2018. Please see the "Final Assessments for the Project" section of this page for more information on paying your assessment.

July 27, 2018

The contractor will be raising manholes Friday 7/27/18 and Saturday 7/28/18. Topsoil and seed in boulevards is occurring today (7/27/18). Paving the final layer of asphalt is scheduled for Monday 7/30/18.

July 23, 2018

Grading is complete. Paving the first layer of asphalt is scheduled for Thursday 7/26/18. The contractor will water the streets a couple of times a day to keep dust down until paving occurs.

July 20, 2018 Revision

The contractor has cancelled Saturday paving due to the rain lingering. Paving will be delayed till the week of 7/23/18.

July 20, 2018

The contractor is completing grading today (7/20/18), weather permitting. Paving the first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for Saturday 7/21/18. Weather permitting, paving will start Saturday morning and will likely take all day till around 5 pm. This will allow the contractor to complete paving the first layer in the entire project area. Thank you for your patience during construction.

July 17, 2018

The contractor patched asphalt driveways yesterday (7/16/18) ahead of schedule. The contractor is grinding up the streets today (7/17/18) and tomorrow (7/18/18). Grading is scheduled to start Thursday 7/19/18. Grading may start early if grinding up of the street finishes ahead of schedule. Paving of the first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled during the week of 7/23/18. Please see the Project Status Interactive Map in the "Links" section of this page for more information.

July 12, 2018

The contractor is scheduled to ramp driveways that received full curb replacement on Friday 7/13/18 to restore access. Grinding up of the street is scheduled to start Tuesday 7/17/18. Grading is scheduled to start Wednesday 7/18/18. Paving of the first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for mid to late in the week of 7/23/18. Patching of asphalt driveways will take place after the first layer of street asphalt is installed. July 6, 2018

Curb removals are complete. Curb and driveway replacements are scheduled for Monday 7/9/18 and Tuesday 7/10/18. Grinding up of the existing asphalt is scheduled to start Monday 7/16/18. The first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 7/25/18. Please see the Project Status Interactive Map in the "Links" section of this page for more information.

July 2, 2018

The Contractor is scheduled to saw curb on Tuesday 7/3/18. The Contractor is scheduled to remove curb on Thursday 7/5/18 and Friday 7/6/18. The Contractor is scheduled to pour curb on Tuesday 7/10/18 and Wednesday 7/11/18. The Contractor will not be working Wednesday 7/4/18. 

June 27, 2018

The Contractor will be back on the project starting Thursday 6/28/18 doing manhole reconstructions. The road will be closed to thru traffic and will be completely closed in the individual location they are working. Access will be available to local traffic on either side of the individual location they are working. Please refer to the Project Status Interactive Map in the "Links" section of this web page to see where the road is completely closed throughout the next couple days.

June 20, 2018

The Contractor was delayed due to rain. They are tentatively scheduled to complete storm sewer upgrades Friday 6/22/18. The Contractor will continue manhole reconstructions during the week of 6/25/18. The Contractor is scheduled to remove curb during the week of 6/25/18. June 12, 2018

The Contractor is starting manhole reconstructions and storm sewer installation on Wednesday, 6/13/18. The road will be closed to thru traffic and will be completely closed in the individual location they are working. Access will be available to local traffic on either side of the individual location they are working. Please refer to the Project Status Interactive Map in the "Links" section of this web page to see where the road is completely closed throughout the day.

April 18, 2018

The City Council awarded a construction contract to McNamara Contracting, Inc. at their April 17, 2018 regular meeting. The contractor is tentatively scheduled to start the project around middle to late May 2018. An Open House is scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Parkway. Residents in the project area will be sent an invitation to this meeting. Engineering staff will be available to answer questions about construction, the contractor's proposed schedule, and will take comments concerning the improvements.

March 12, 2018

A Public Hearing was held on March 6, 2018. The City Council ordered the improvements, approved the plans & specifications and ordered advertisement for bids. Bids will be received in early April and a contract will be awarded at the April 17, 2018 City Council meeting. 

February 23, 2018

The City Council received the Preliminary Report for this project at their February 20, 2018 regular meeting. A Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Parkway. The Public Hearing is a meeting where the City Council receives public testimony regarding the improvement. You are invited to address the City Council if you have concerns with any portion of the project. Public Hearing notices and invitations have been mailed to effected property owners. January 2, 2018

A neighborhood meeting is being held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 3:30 to 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers at Burnsville City Hall for property owners interested in learning more about this project. Formal invitations have been mailed to effected property owners and a sample invite is available in the "Links" section of this page.
